At Big Bend Backcountry Risk Communication is an important part of our travel through the wild mountains. We want all guests to get a general idea of the decisions that dictate our day and how we travel through the mountains. Every trip starts with a brush up on Companion Rescue skills and what to do in the event of an emergency in the Backcountry. We will also at a minimum discuss the overall avalanche hazard for the day and most likely go into details on specific avalanche problems we will be working to avoid.

Although we have a great safety record, highly skilled and certified guides unforeseen accidents are still a possibility. We will be spending our days walking and skiing in a wild and uncontrolled environment. Our guides will take every step possible to mitigate the associated risks, but the mountains can be a harsh environment and accidents are possible.
All guests are required to review a copy of our waiver before payment is taken and will have to sign in person before the trip starts.
