Day trips

Mandatory


Touring skis (pin bindings recommended) or Splitboard (don't forget bindings)

Boots (with walk mode)

Skins (fitted to skis or board)

Backpack (25-40L), (Avy pocket and external helmet / ski carry functions recommended) 

Transceiver (modern, 3 antenna unit with >50% battery life) 

Probe (280+ cm)

Shovel (metal blade required) 

Shell style jacket

Insulated jacket

Shell style pants (hard or soft)

Lunch (variety of snacks works well, include some sugars)

Water bottle / thermos (1-1.5 L, no CamelBak style hoses) 

Goggles & Sunglasses 

2 pairs of warm gloves (in case one gets wet)

-Rutschblock Cord (start with 4-5m of 3mm cord and tie overhand knots every 15-30cm)


Big Bend Backcountry will  reach out directly if there is any anticipated need for additional mountaineering gear such as harnesses, ice axes, or crampons. Most trips do not require this type of equipment.

Once booking has been completed for a lodge trip you will receive a copy of a packing list as different lodges have different amenities.
